Holz_Design - Di, 2017-09-19 15:52
These 5 foods that cure diabetes which can be easily found around the house or at the nearest grocery store can cure type 2 diabetes only. Unlike type 2 diabetes, type 1 diabetes is incurable and is not preventable. In spite of this, these 5 foods can still provide some benefits for those with type 1 diabetes by helping to keep complications associated with type 1 diabetes to a minimum.

Foods that Cure Diabetes

1. Peanut butter and other nuts

Some studies have shown that those who eat peanut butter and other nuts regularly were able to reduce their risk of type 2 diabetes by a significant amount.

Researchers still don't fully understand why nuts are so beneficial for lowering the risk of type 2 diabetes however, various nuts have many healing properties such as fiber, magnesium, protein, monounsaturated fats (the healthy fats), etc.

It is thought that the monounsaturated fats in many nuts which make up about 85 percent of the total fat content in nuts is able to reduce insulin resistance which is usually at the root of the development of pre-diabetes as well as type 2 diabetes.

While nuts contain a great deal of healthy fats, the total fat content in nuts is one of the drawbacks related to the consumption of nuts. This means that consuming about a third cup of nuts will usually contain about 20 grams of fat and about 250 to 300 calories.

If you do consume a lot of nuts, just make sure that you reduce your consumption of other foods that contain various fats. In addition, in order to keep the total calories consumed in balance if you consume a lot of nuts, simply reduce the amount of other calories in your diet such as those from meat, refined foods, etc.

In addition to reducing the risk of developing pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes, nuts can also help prevent heart disease, certain cancers and can also lower cholesterol. High cholesterol and heart disease are usually also issues for people with diabetes so nuts can certainly be very beneficial.

Nuts are an excellent source of fiber which is one of the top ways to cure diabetes and almonds and pistachios contain some of the highest amounts of fiber found in nuts.

Nuts are also a good source of protein with the peanut containing the highest amount of protein found in any nut. While diabetics need to be careful about the amount of coffee they should drink, some studies of healthy people have shown that drinking at least six cups of coffee a day can help reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 22 percent and 33 percent for decaffeinated coffee.

Another study showed that only one cup of coffee a day reduced type 2 diabetes risk by 13 percent. Various other studies also provided different findings from these but overall, all the studies showed that moderate coffee consumption can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes so drink up!

It is not the caffeine or the lack of caffeine in coffee though that is responsible for this reduction in risk but the antioxidants contained in coffee that are believed to be beneficial. These antioxidants are believed to help prevent free radical damage to the beta cells in the pancreas which produce the hormone insulin that is responsible for removing the glucose in the blood and transferring it to the cells. Caffeine on the other hand is thought to impair glucose tolerance in those without diabetes.

In addition, coffee contains chlorogenic acid which is able to slow down the absorption of sugar which helps to prevent blood sugar spikes in addition to causing better insulin sensitivity.

Another benefit of coffee for diabetes is that some studies have shown that coffee can help with weight loss albeit modest. Obesity is strongly associated with the development of pre-diabetes as well as type 2 diabetes and anything you can do to help lower your weight including drinking coffee is a plus.

The drawbacks about drinking coffee is that too much can increase blood pressure, can cause insomnia and can become addictive.

Uncovering Diabetes - The Mother of The Diseases of Civilization

Holz_Design - Di, 2017-09-19 15:48
For my first article on EzineArticles I want to jump straight into the cauldron and try to disseminate some truth about a disease that is by far the biggest modern day killer of mankind, diabetes. You might well already be sitting there now tutting, shaking your head and thinking that heart disease, cancer and obesity are the biggest killers and I can only agree with you, they are, which is exactly why I thought that it had to be this topic that I write about first because diabetes is a disease that is so mired in untruths, confusion and frankly covered in bovine faces, the truth needs to told as clearly and directly as possible.

I will begin with a gentle, historical introduction, although this will soon give way to details of a deadly cover-up and scandal affecting hundreds of millions worldwide. Often diabetes is categorized as a chronic auto-immune disease, which basically means it is incurable, with the body attacking itself, which for the vast majority of cases is absolutely nonsense. Everyone needs to know the truth about this disease, although sadly the truth will be of little comfort to those already suffering from the disease, although it can help with an effective strategy in dealing with the disease before it erupts into a chronic, deadly symptom. That word 'symptom' might cause some confusion, as there is a very clear symptomatic set of illnesses that diabetes is the ultimate aetiology (cause) of. Diabetes in itself is only the first step down a long road of illness, a road that need never have been travelled down. All of which will be made perfectly clear after an historical introduction to the disease.

Diabetes mellitus is a disease that prevents any, or enough insulin being produced or used properly. Insulin is produced in the pancreas, being required to turn sugar and other foods into energy for use by cells, tissues, muscles and organs, for all the various bodily functions. Without insulin, blood sugar levels get dangerously high, leading to a number of complications.

The word diabetes comes from the Greek, diabainen, meaning to straddle, or to siphon, due to the excessive urination associated with diabetes, which is sweet, hence its name mellitus, Latin for sweet or honey, added to its name in 1676. It was recognised as a chronic (incurable) disease by the ancient Egyptians, Chinese, Greeks, Indians and Romans, with its name in the various languages translated as 'sweet piss'. The Indian physician Sushrata, in the 6th century BC, associated it with a lack of exercise and obesity. Galen, a second century disciple of Hippocrates, only ever saw two cases, with Hippocrates making no mention of it, possibly as he never saw any cases. The Persian Avicenna (980-1037) recognised two distinct types and treated it with a mixture of lupine, zedoary seed and fenugreek, which is still prescribed today throughout Asia. The Egyptian Maimonides (1135-1204) mentions it is very rare in the colder parts of Europe and more frequent in warmer Africa, where he had 20 cases in 10 years. So therefore its occurrence can be said to be rare historically.

The word diabetes first appeared in English literature in 1425 and the word insulin, was first used by Sir Edward Sharpey-Schafer in 1910, derived from the Latin insula, meaning an island, a reference to the Islets of Langerhans in the pancreas where insulin is produced (which sounds like a great scenic place for a picnic!). Sir Frederick Grant Banting won the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1923 for his work on insulin's role, giving all patents attached to his discoveries freely to the world, so as to not put a cost on health. World Diabetes Day every year is deservedly called Banting Day in his honour and memory. It's just a shame that the truth about this disease has been all but fully covered up since this time and what should have been freely available has made trillions for the pharmaceutical industry.

Diabetes was still so rare at the turn of the 20th century, it was considered no more than a curiosity, accounting for only 0.0028% of all deaths in the United States. Today, over 10% of the US population are on prescribed medication for diabetes, another 10% who have diabetes are considered to have it 'under control' requiring no medication and another 30% who show pre-onset symptoms (which equals an incredible 50%). According to some claims it is already responsible for up to 40% of all deaths in the US, although CVD and cancer are already responsible for 80% of all deaths. Which makes 120%! How is this possible? Well here begins what can only be termed a conspiracy. Please don't go thinking this word conspiracy has anything to do anti-establishment, anarchists or left-wing, dope smoking environmentalists, it actually means to 'breathe together' and implies any collusion of individuals or industries and with diabetes there has certainly been a significant conspiracy.

In the 1950s when Type 2 diabetes was first recognised, it was known as Adult Onset Diabetes, or Insulin Resistant Diabetes, or Hyperinsulinemia. It was seen as a major risk factor, even back then, for all the following - Atherosclerosis, various Vascular diseases, Heart disease, Stroke, ADHD, Liver damage, Impotence, Kidney failure, various Cancers, Obesity, Retinopathy and Gangrene. Today we can add to this list, systemic Candida, poor wound Healing, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. Even n the 1930s, all these diseases were seen as symptoms of diabetes. Which is the same as saying these diseases are caused by diabetes. Why is this still not true?

A major reason for this would be that in 1949 the U.S restructured its medical agenda. One of the results of this was the splitting of the symptom sets from diabetes, all to be treated as separate diseases. Thereafter, if a patient displayed a symptom set from diabetes that was a heart disease, the patient was ascribed to a heart specialist, if death resulted whilst seeing this specialist, death would be recorded as heart failure. If the diabetes had caused a problem with the kidneys, the patient would be under the auspices of a kidney specialist, similarly if death occurs whilst seeing this specialist, the death is recorded as kidney failure. If cancer was the result of diabetes the patient would be seen by an oncologist and if death was the result cancer was recorded as the cause of death. This is what is known as the "death certificate shuffle', used to distort the real causes of death.

This took the onus away from diabetes being blamed. Diabetes in the 1930s, was known to be caused by excessive carbohydrate ingestion. Dr Sokoloff in the 1940s clearly saw that diabetes was as a result of carbohydrates forming too high a proportion of the diet. Nothing has changed since then, apart from now we have what can only be termed super-carbohydrates, with a diet that for the vast majority involves eating predominately refined carbohydrates. Sugar and glucose forming dietary inputs definitely do cause an increase in blood sugar, unlike consumption of many saturated fats (such as coconut and grass-fed butter), which does not make us fat, just as the consumption of green vegetables does not make us green. Which of course directly points the finger of blame at the food supply as being the ultimate cause of these deaths recorded as heart or kidney failure. All are complications resulting from the consumption of an inappropriate diet, with a light shining brightly on sugar.

Obesity is the easiest of the entire range of the diseases of civilization (which also includes cancer, heart disease, dementia, depression, ADD and many more) to not only identify visually but also to cure (eat less, move more). It is also unanimously agreed upon as being a result of a poor diet. Today, most of the other diseases of civilization are enshrouded in mystery, both about the causes and cures. In the second decade of the twenty first century, we are less clear about disease than we were in the second decade of the twentieth century.

All of the above clearly implicates diet as being the aetiology of diabetes, Type 2 that is, as Type 1, which affects less than 3% of diabetics (a percentage that is getting lower as more and more people succumb to Type 2) is predominately heritable, although as more research is undertaken, factors such as formula milk, cows milk and artificial sweeteners will be shown to be risk factors also. Here's where the conspiracy comes into play and the confusion begins to creep in, as it is uncertain whether the knowledge has been downplayed as a direct consequence of the meddling from the food and pharmaceutical industries, or whether it's just a coincidence and that when discovered it was kept quiet. I feel certain that the sugar industry has a huge part to play in this as it is of course sugar that can unarguably be a major risk factor in any raising of the blood sugar levels (I will discuss sugar and The Sugar Association in a future article on EzineArticles). Although sugar is not alone, as unbeknown to most of the public, consumption of white flour, white rice, milk and meat also raises the blood sugar levels. Incredibly 80% of the modern diet involves these processed foods, so a raise in blood sugar levels is inevitable with consumption of a modern diet.

The average adult bloodstream has roughly as much glucose as that found in a teaspoon of sugar. If diabetic, this means the bloodstream has another quarter of a teaspoon of sugar in the bloodstream, that's it. This causes the classic symptoms of diabetes to occur - polyuria (frequent, often sweet urination); polydipsia (increased thirst) and polyphagia (increased hunger). This little bit of extra sugar causes these, all in an attempt to eliminate and dilute the excess glucose. Is there any surprise that this delicate balance of blood sugar is out of balance considering the dietary input of today? The average consumption is well over a kilogram everyday of unnecessary and detrimental processed flour, sugar and milk (or a third of a ton a year), much more for many. As diabetes is defined by this increased blood sugar level, there should never have been any confusion about where the blame lies for any increase in the rates of Type 2 diabetes. Incredibly such a simple answer has been deliberately covered-up and there is no doubt about it that this basic information has been manipulated by the food and pharmaceutical industries, with collusion from the governments as one only has to consider the etymology of the word government to understand the true role of a government. Govern means to control and ment refers to mental, the true etymology of which means 'control your mind' and 'to steer mankind'.

How to Avoid Type 2 Diabetes

Holz_Design - Di, 2017-09-19 15:48
How does one avoid Diabetes, are there foods one can eat to keep away diabetes, what should one do to prevent diabetes if it runs in one's family, how does one avoid diabetes in children? All these questions and more shall be answered in the following article.

Diabetes Milletus or diabetes for short is a disease that affects millions of people all around the world. In America, 29.1 million people suffer from diabetes, 8.1 million of whom don't even know they have it. Each year in the U.S it causes up to 70,000 deaths, contributes to thousands more and is a leading cause of blindness, kidney failure and heart disease.

In 2007 in the United States, over $116 billion was spent on diabetes treatment and an additional $58 billion lost due to reduced productivity. By 2012 these numbers had risen to $176 billion for direct medical costs and $69 billion for indirect cost like disability, work loss and premature death. Fast forward to 2015 and it is no gainsaying that the situation must quite clearly be worse.

In the United Kingdom, about 3.8 million people have diabetes with the situation no better in countries like China (92 million Chinese adults), India (62 million adults). Globally, at present growth rates, it is estimated that the number of people diagnosed with diabetes will rise from 285 million in 2010 to 439 million by the year 2030. Truly then, one might say that diabetes is a disease of epidemic proportions.

But what exactly is diabetes? To answer this question it is important to first know how the body works.

The body needs energy to function properly. A rich source of this is carbohydrates which the body converts to glucose - a simple sugar form it can readily use. Ordinarily when glucose is absorbed into the bloodstream in this way, the hormone insulin is equally released and it functions to enable the glucose pass into the cells for energy production.

Unfortunately under certain circumstances, the body is unable to make enough of this insulin or to where it does make enough, properly use it. This is what is known as diabetes. There are two types. Type 1-caused by the auto-immune response of the immune system attacking the pancreas and destroying the insulin making cells of the organ. It makes up about 5-10% of diagnosed diabetes cases.

Type 2, in which though the pancreas still makes insulin, the body has lost sensitivity to it and no longer responds to it properly (makes up about 90% diagnosed diabetes cases). The result of both types is that glucose can't get into the cells normally. As such blood sugar level rises and if left untreated leads to medical complications. Accordingly, it is imperative as with most diseases that one, looks towards prevention rather than cure.

As far as Type 1 diabetes goes, the prevailing wisdom is that it can't be prevented. In fact, for now, it can't even be predicted who will or won't get it. Evidence however suggests that there may be a genetic predisposition to it. A genetic predisposition to the disease though is not ordinarily enough to trigger it. What triggers it in most cases is an external factor- a virus for example, as in the case of a child.

Having said this, research does show that breastfeeding, avoiding early introduction of solid foods and other factors might play a role in lowering the risk of developing the disease.

That is for type 1. For Type 2 though, prognosis for prevention is rosier. Since Type 2 is predisposed on the body losing its sensitivity to insulin, there are several steps one can take to prevent this from happening or where it does happen, to even reverse it. These follow;

First, eat a healthy balanced diet.

A healthy balanced diet would comprise the 5 major food groups eaten in the appropriate portions or servings.

To help guide citizens on what constitutes this, the UK government devised the Eat Well plate which is the national food guide designed to help UK citizens have a healthy balanced diet. It is based on the basic five food groups and the guide stipulates the percentage of a person's plate that should be made up of each food group.

Thus Fruits and vegetables-33%, Bread, rice, potatoes, pasta and other starchy foods-33%, Milk and other dairy products-15%, Meat, fish, egg, beans and other non-dairy sources of protein-12% and foods and drinks high in fat or sugar-7%. It is noteworthy that the second group though should be whole grain-that is whole wheat bread, brown rice etc. and not refined grains like white bread and white rice.

In America, it is the MyPlate nutrition guide provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The guide was revised by the American Diabetic Association in such a way as to make non-starchy vegetables like spinach and cabbage constitute about 50% of the plate, grains and starchy foods like whole grain bread and rice 25%, and protein such as chicken and fish constitute the other 25%.

Eat more Fiber containing food and whole grains

What is common to both the UK's Eat Well Plate and the United States MyPlate nutrition guide though is the emphasis on fiber and whole grains. High in fiber foods include vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts and seeds. Examples of grains on the other hand are whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta and brown rice.

Both these- whole grains and fiber, lower your risk of developing diabetes by improving your blood sugar control. In fact research shows that substituting whole grains for even some refined carbohydrate products -white bread or rice could lower diabetes risk by as much as 36%.

In Nurses Health Studies 1 and II a study spanning over 18 years and looking at the health and dietary habits of 160,000 women, it was found that women who averaged two to three servings of whole grains a day were 30% less likely to have developed Type 2 diabetes than those who rarely ate whole grains. It was found that the bran and fiber in whole grains slows down the digestive processes by making it harder for digestive enzymes to break down the starches into glucose, resulting thereby in slow increases in blood sugar (low glycemic index) and less strain on the pancreas.

In addition to its diabetes fighting qualities, fiber lowers the risk of heart disease and also promotes weight loss by making you feel full.

Avoid highly refined grain products like white bread

In contrast to whole grain food, white rice, white bread, mashed potatoes, donuts etc. cause sustained increase in blood sugar and insulin levels. This is what is meant when they are said to have a high glycemic load. This resulting load leads to increased insulin output and conversely increases the chance of developing diabetes.

Skip Sugary drinks like soda

It has also been advised that skipping sugary drinks like soda etc. and going for the alternative water, coffee or tea is also a good diabetes prevention measure. Sugary drinks not only lead to increased weight but evidence suggest also increase chronic inflammation, high triglycerides and insulin resistance whilst decreasing "good" (HDL) cholesterol, these being all risk factors for diabetes. In fact a synthesis of eight studies made, found that for every additional 12 ounce serving of sugary beverage that people drank each day, their risk of type 2 diabetes rose 25 percent.

What Is Diabetes? Types Of Diabetes

Holz_Design - Di, 2017-09-19 15:47
Diabetes is also referred to as diabetes mellitus, and may broadly be classified as a category of ailments wherein a person has high blood glucose levels. This could be either because insulin production in one's body is not sufficient, or the body fails to respond to the insulin in the required way. Some of the symptoms that are very commonly associated with diabetes are frequent thirst, hunger and urination.

In some cases, diabetes could be a lifelong condition, characterized by high blood glucose levels. The condition is commonly prevalent, and in the year 2013, 382 million people across the world were suffering from the disorder.

Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes

Diabetes is very often classified as Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. When one suffers from type 1 diabetes, the body ceases to produce insulin. This type of diabetes is relatively rarer, and only 10% of people suffering from the ailment are ailing from Type 1 diabetes.

Type 1 diabetes is also sometimes referred to as insulin dependent diabetes or early onset diabetes. And this type of diabetes is more prevalent in people under 40 years of age, even in one's teenage years or early adulthood.

If one is ailing with type 1 diabetes, he has to take insulin injections for the rest of his life, follow a specific diet and also monitor his blood glucose levels by carrying out blood tests at regular intervals.

However, type 2 diabetes is a lot more prevalent type of diabetes, and nearly 90% of people who suffer this disorder are ailing with type 2 diabetes. When one suffers from type 2 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin in adequate quantities, or the body cells do not react to insulin, in a condition known as insulin resistance.

For many people, type 2 diabetes is a condition relatively easier to control, and one can keep a check on symptoms of type 2 diabetes by maintaining one's weight in recommendable limits, making sure that one consumes a healthy diet, getting some regular exercise, and monitoring one's blood glucose levels at regular intervals.

Gestational Diabetes

An important classification of diabetes is gestational diabetes which affects women during pregnancy. During pregnancy, women sometimes have blood glucose levels which are more towards the higher side, and their body does not produce adequate insulin to transport this glucose into their cells.

Diagnosis of gestational diabetes can be made only during pregnancy, and a vast majority of patients can control their condition by means of diet and exercise. However, 10-20% of patients need to take specific medications to keep a check on their blood glucose levels.

An important way that can enable one to prevent the condition is by making sure that one consumes a low cholesterol diet during pregnancy.

When Do People Get Diabetes?

When one is overweight, he is at a higher risk of developing diabetes. One of the reasons for the same is because when one is obese, the body releases chemicals which can work towards destabilizing body's metabolic and cardiovascular systems.

So being overweight, not consuming the right kind of a diet and developing type 2 diabetes are all interrelated. Another important factor that is known to greatly enhance the risk of developing type 2 diabetes is aging.

Alternately, some of the other factors that can cause diabetes are genetics, one's family history, or even following an unhealthy diet regimen.

Some Simple Lifestyle Changes To Overcome Diabetes!

To keep a check on diabetes, one must avoid skipping meals. This could hike the blood sugar levels, and could even lead to weight gain. Taking care of one's diet is a factor that can go a long way in enabling one keep a check on diabetes, or even overcome the condition.

Similarly, consuming a diet which is high on fruits and vegetables can help control diabetes, because fruits and vegetables are full of fibers. This helps us keep full, and the high vitamin and mineral content in fruits and vegetables helps ensure that the body receives nutrition. This keeps one energetic, and one is not tempted to go for sugary foods.

As a rule, one must avoid all foods which have a higher glycemic index, like chips and salty snacks, and one must keep a check on consumption of fatty foods as well. Similarly, starches from white rice, potatoes and whole grains could also influence diabetes.

Something as simple as drinking 6-8 glasses of water every day is a factor which can go a long way towards prevention and control of diabetes. In the same way, even a slight weight loss can work wonders for someone who is a diabetic. While being the healthiest way to get over diabetes, a slight weight loss of up to 5-10% can have the same effect on a diabetic as anti-diabetic pills!

And if you are considering getting some good exercise, walking stands out as one of the best options!

6 Natural Type 2 Diabetes Remedies - And The Whys And Wherefores

Holz_Design - Di, 2017-09-19 15:47
OK, I've been very fortunate and have never personally suffered with this particular debilitating and increasingly expanding, health destroying ailment - the few times my blood-sugar has hit a big spike has been purely through my own doing - or I should say "over-doing"... if you know what I mean..!?!

Unfortunately, (hey, nobody should WANT to experience this in any way, right..!) I have gained plenty of experience due to the 'sufferings' of family members and close friends over the last couple of decades or so... diabetes is not fun, it is however, very manageable and in the case of the "Type 2 variety, because it's more-often-than-not a "lifestyle" and/or "dietary" issue, it's totally preventable and generally curable - that's right, 'Type 2 diabetes CAN BE CURED - IF YOU WANT IT TO BE...

... and this fact has been proven as true, not just by my own positive experiences, but also via the numerous tests, trials and studies undertaken by major scientific and medical communities throughout the world - and "Natural" products, that you can find at home, feature hugely amongst the means of prevention and cure...

Cutting to The Chase:

I think, before we go any further, it's important that I impress upon you a few FACTS and get some BS out of the way at the same time...

TYPE 1 DIABETES MELLITUS - your pancreas just does not produce insulin, at all... ever.

With this type, you're fully dependent on timed and regulated injections of insulin doses directly into your blood-stream.

At the time of writing this article, exhaustive and detailed research carried out by "yours truly" has re-confirmed that 'TYPE 1′ DIABETES CANNOT BE CURED and if anybody right now is claiming the opposite or trying to sell you some "miracle cure", ignore them... they're either very misinformed or they're out-n-out lying to you - probably because they want to screw you out of some of your hard-earned cash..!

Hopefully this will change at some point in the future... exhaustive studies are still a major ongoing task for the scientific community at large.

The best analogy I can think of is this: 'Type 1 diabetes is akin to being born without a left hand... you'll never, ever, no matter the type of "miracle cure" they try to sell you, be able to grow that hand... BUT you'll absolutely be able to adapt your lifestyle and be fully able to live a full and happy life without it.

TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS - your pancreas doesn't produce quite enough insulin, or your body's cells just won't react to insulin.

Now on the other hand - and pardon the (slightly sick) pun, this type of diabetes is very preventable and most definitely curable... with some good guidance, a little bit of effort and some minor lifestyle changes, you DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE OR SUFFER WITH 'TYPE 2 DIABETES...

... meaning my analogy looks something like this: 'Type 2 diabetes is akin to being born with both hands but then later in life you injure your left hand... if you take the right action at the right time, your hand is eventually fixed and functioning again.

♦ Stop Consuming Sugar, of any and every type... pastries, cookies, fizzy drinks and many other food and beverage types - if you've read all my articles previous to this, you'll know that sugar is pure poison and you'll have learned what it does to you - apart from what it does as a major contributor to diabetes.

♦ Stop Smoking - I really don't believe I need to say anymore about this stinking, murderous habit as I have written plenty about this too..!

♦ Stop EXCESSIVE Alcohol Consumption - moderation is key... a little bit of what you like can be beneficial - everyday heavy consumption or "binge-drinking" is health destroying and will definitely worsen your diabetes condition.

♦ Eat "Naturally" Healthy - if you've been paying attention to my newsletters and articles, then you should know by now what I'm saying here... healthy fats and oils, power-foods and organic wherever and whenever possible - simple..!

♦ Exercise - I cannot emphasise enough how a daily session of sweat-inducing, lung-expanding exercise is absolutely paramount to your good health and especially important for keeping diabetes at bay - it doesn't have to be a long session, 20 minutes will do, and it can be any kind you prefer, so long as you do something - it WILL help big-time... !

Apart from the obvious rise in blood-sugar levels, there are these:

♦ Constant fatigue

♦ Blurred vision

♦ Numbness or "tingling" at your extremities (fingertips, toes etc.)

♦ A constant thirst

♦ Excessive urination

♦ Raised blood pressure

♦ Minor injuries like cuts and grazes, are slow to heal.

While there are quite a number of herbs, foods or methods of remedying the undesirable effects of Type 2 diabetes, these are my personal favourites (and I personally use a few of these practically every day) because they've always seemed to form a major part of family and friends diets as they made their journey toward their cure, and they're all pretty much based on things you can easily find in your local grocery store - if you haven't already got them at home or in your garden:

#1 - Cinnamon

Its' effective use as a remedy for Type 2 diabetes is still a topic for debate amongst those that want to take the time to debate it, but the fact is that the consumption of cinnamon is a centuries-old habit that has always been associated with bodily health - in more than one way.

Several studies and reviews have been carried over recent years with what I think are very positive results...

"A 2012 review of several recent studies concluded that the use of cinnamon had a potentially beneficial effect on glycemic control... One study published in 2009 found that a 500 mg capsule of cinnamon taken twice a day for 90 days improved hemoglobin A1C levels in people with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes (hemoglobin A1C levels greater than 7 percent)."

"The results of another study demonstrated that the intake of 1, 3, or 6 g of cinnamon per day reduces serum glucose, triglyceride, LDL cholesterol, and total cholesterol in people with type 2 diabetes and suggest that the inclusion of cinnamon in the diet of people with type 2 diabetes will reduce risk factors associated with diabetes and cardiovascular diseases."

Everyone I've ever known to suffer with diabetes has sworn it's helped them as part of their lifestyle they were undertaking to control or totally cure themselves of Type 2 - an awful lot of them succeeded... that's good enough for me... !

#2 - Garlic

Already well known for it's health maintaining and improving properties, garlic also helps to remedy the effects of diabetes due to its' high "allicin" content, a known "hypoglycemia" fixer.

Its' known to increase the release of insulin and so regulates blood sugar levels... a study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food found garlic (and ginger actually) was highly effective in increasing the insulin content in your body so improving glucose tolerance... another study published in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry proved that garlic showed high potential for protecting your heart from diabetes-induced cardiomyopathy.

Living With Diabetes - The Challenges You Will Face

Holz_Design - Di, 2017-09-19 15:46
If you have been urinating frequently and feel a tingling sensation in your feet, you could be suffering from diabetes. Diabetes can be life threatening if left untreated.
What is diabetes?
Diabetes is also known as diabetes mellitus and it is a condition in which a person has high blood glucose levels. This happens when the body is unable to convert sugar into energy due to a decrease in the insulin level. This causes the frequent thirst and hunger in the patient.
There are 3 types of diabetes:
1. Type 1 diabetes- People may develop this type of diabetes in their teenage, early adulthood or before the age of 40. People suffering from type 1 diabetes will have to take insulin injections for the rest of their lives. Such people will also have to follow a healthy diet and go for regular blood tests to ensure a normal life.
2. Type 2 diabetes- This affects about 90% of the world's population and is normally caused when the body develops resistance to insulin and it may get worse. Such people may have to take insulin in the form of a tablet. Generally type 2 diabetes affects obese people, people who lead a sedentary lifestyle and those who eat unhealthy food most of the times.
3. Gestational diabetes- This type of diabetes affects women during their pregnancy and can be controlled with proper diet and exercise. Gestational diabetes must be diagnosed early during pregnancy to avoid complications during childbirth.
6 Symptoms of diabetes to watch out for are:
1. Frequent urination - The sugar level in the blood increases causing the body to discard the extra sugar through urine. That is why a person suffering from diabetes will feel the need to urinate often. If you suffer from such a condition then you must visit your doctor immediately.
2. Thirst - A person suffering from diabetes will feel thirsty and would be urinating often.
3. Unexplained weight loss - Water and calories are lost from the body in the form of urine. Despite frequent hunger and thirst, a diabetic person will lose weight.
4. Tiredness/ Fatigue - One main reason for a diabetic person to feel tired is that the body is unable to convert sugar into energy. This makes the person even more lethargic and tired all the time.
5. Blurred vision - Due to high levels of sugar in the blood, the lens in the eyes gets affected causing them to lose their flexibility. This makes it difficult for the lens to focus on objects thereby causing blurred vision. Diabetic people will have to treat blurred vision early to avoid it turning into cataract and even blindness.
6. Tingling sensation in the feet - High levels of sugar in the blood causes tingling sensation in the feet. A diabetic patient will also have a weak immunity system which will cause wounds and cuts to heal slowly.
Unfortunately type 1 diabetes lasts for a life time and cannot be cured. Type 2 diabetes can be treated with proper medications, diet and exercise. There are instances where people have been totally cured of type 2 diabetes. It is advisable that diabetic people follow their doctor's instructions thoroughly to avoid further health complications.
What are the complications due to diabetes?
Diabetes must be controlled to avoid complications in your health. Listed below are few of the diseases that might be caused due to diabetes;
1. Eye problems 2. Skin problems 3. Hypertension 4. Heart problems 5. Ear problems 6. Gum diseases 7. Stroke 8. Infections 9. Kidney problems 10. Depression
Most of these problems occur due to an increase in sugar level in the blood. This damages the nerves and causes tingling sensation in the feet. When a diabetic patient gets a cut or a wound, it takes a long time to heal and he may not feel any pain due to damage to his nerves. Eventually he may to lose his foot or leg. Diabetes can damage the heart and cause heart attack. Diabetes can also damage your kidneys and cause kidney failure.
Diabetes can ruin your life. Prevention is the best cure. Regular health checkups will help in identifying the problem in the initial stage itself and help in controlling it. A diabetic patient will have to follow his/her physician's recommendations religiously to avoid further complications. Sugary liquids must be avoided and healthy diet along with exercise must be followed to lead a normal life.

Avoiding Diabetes And Adding 6 Years To Your Life!

Holz_Design - Di, 2017-09-19 15:45
AVOIDING DIABETES prompted me to share a VERY personal story. My mother was an insulin diabetic for most of her life starting back in the 1950's until her passing away over two decades ago. Since she was taking insulin several times daily, I'm sure that diabetes was on her mind every waking hour. Point being, I realized if there was any "good news" about my mother's diabetes, it was that I learned that diabetes should be feared and avoided at all costs.

My mother's illness prompted me to exercise regularly and eat a healthy, well balanced diet. More importantly, it prompted me to pay attention to my daughter's lifestyles as a "good Dad". As a consequence, my concerns about your children's future prompted me to write this article. Here's the facts...

Diabetes today affects tens of millions of people in the United States and costs about $174 billion each year in medical expenditures - more than any other health condition. Increasing evidence is showing that obesity and type 2 diabetes are inextricably linked, and rising obesity rates are fueling the growing type 2 diabetes epidemic.

"Weight loss, even a modest amount; has been found to help people with diabetes achieve and sustain blood glucose control and live healthier, longer and more active lives." Regrettably the percentage of adults classified as obese doubled from 1980 to 2000 to 31 percent of the population. It's estimated that "among U.S. adults aged 18-79 years, the incidence of diagnosed diabetes increased 41% from 1997 to 2003. "Obesity is a major factor in this recent increase of newly diagnosed diabetes" as reported in Medical News TODAY.

Unfortunately diabetes is also known to compound the risk of other illnesses. "Type 2 diabetes patients receiving intensive treatment to lower their blood glucose levels were actually found to have a 20 percent reduced risk of kidney disease" as reported in the San Diego Union-Tribune

Treating the nation's 10 most expensive medical conditions will cost nearly $500 billion this year. Many of these conditions, including heart disease, cancer and diabetes, are common chronic diseases that also tend to be preventable. For today, let's focus on diabetes as it has been proven that most cases (90+%) of diabetes are preventable. If you're not already aware, you need to understand what diabetes actually is.

Diabetes is a disease that affects how your body uses the food that you eat each day. Glucose is a simple sugar, which is your body's primary source of energy. The digestive process turns the meal you just ate into glucose, which is then distributed, throughout your body via the bloodstream. Some of this "blood sugar" is used by the brain, which requires a constant supply of glucose and other cells, which also need immediate energy. The rest is stored in the liver and muscles as a starch called glycogen or as fat to be used later as your body's energy needs require it.

A normal body maintains an even balance of sugar in the blood to properly satisfy the body's energy needs. Any disruption creates a chemical imbalance, too low a blood sugar level causes Hypoglycemia and too high a blood sugar level causes Hyperglycemia.

The pancreas is an organ that produces the hormone Insulin, which helps maintain the proper levels of blood sugar and is a vital component to the smooth transition of glucose into the cells. When the pancreas does not produce enough insulin to properly release glycogen from the liver to the bloodstream or the body doesn't correctly use it the result is high blood sugar or diabetes.

According to a New England Journal of Medicine study, nine out of 10 cases of adult diabetes could be prevented if people exercised more, ate healthier food, stopped smoking and adapted other healthy behavior. A Harvard School of Public Health research team led by Dr. Frank Hu, determined the most important risk factor is being overweight. The heavier an individual is, the greater the chances of having blood sugar problems. And type 2 diabetes is responsible for 90 to 95 percent of blood sugar problems in the U.S., according to the American Diabetes Association. asks the question "Is Diabetes Preventable?" The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reports that 40 percent of the U.S. adults ages 40 to 74, or 41 million people, were pre-diabetic in 2000. In 2002, 54 million U.S. adults were pre-diabetic. This represents a 32 percent growth in the number of pre-diabetics over just a two year period. Knowing that many pre-diabetics will go on to develop type 2 diabetes within 10 years makes this an even more frightening statistic. It's been said we have a diabetes epidemic on our hands. The word epidemic seems appropriate.

The Defeat Diabetes Foundation has recently reported on the multiple complications diabetics face. At the top of the list, in my opinion, is that Diabetics are 65% more likely to develop Alzheimer's disease. 60 to 70% of all diabetics have mild to severe forms of nervous system damage, including carpal tunnel syndrome and impaired sensation in the feet or hands. Diabetics are 2 to 4 times more likely to develop heart disease and 6 times more likely to suffer a stroke. Plus, an estimated 25% of all kidney and dialysis patients are diabetic.

This year there will be 24,000 new cases of blindness and diabetes is now the leading cause of blindness. Diabetes is now the seventh leading cause of death and the eight most expensive U.S. health condition.

The Boston Globe reported in 2011 that diabetics live six years less than those that are not diabetic. This bears repeating... diabetics lose 6 years of life... and our life style is causing the diabetes.

If you're a parent just learning about the risks and complications of diabetes, I have a new mantra for you "no more french fries". I happened to see a young child crying recently and her mom was "quieting her down" with a french fry. It reminded me of our responsibility to our children in teaching them about the value of a healthy diet and exercise... so my new mantra is "no more french fries".

A recent study determined that our LIFETIME eating habits, what and how much we eat, is learned by the age five. Those of you with very young children, it's critically important to focus on how much your children trust you. They trust you to teach them about life itself and guide them on their journey. Giving them french fries to quiet them down is the first step toward creating an overweight diabetic decades later. Our responsibility to our children will be our lifetime legacy.

Let's bottom line my message today. You and your children have the opportunity to reduce the likelihood of developing Alzheimer's by 65 percent and live six years longer by simply not becoming diabetic that we know is preventable 90 percent of the time!

10 Tips On How To Reverse Diabetes Naturally

Holz_Design - Mi, 2017-09-13 14:36
While diabetes medications, insulin injections and various other tools and resources which can help control blood sugar levels and are big business and can cost a diabetic at least $10,000.00, there are many natural ways that can be even more effective at managing blood sugar levels in addition to being inexpensive. Do keep in mind that type 1 diabetes is irreversible and is not preventable but making healthy changes can help reduce symptoms and complication. Type 2 diabetes on the other hand can not only be prevented but can also be reversed. Here are 10 tips on how to reverse diabetes naturally.
How to Reverse Diabetes Naturally
1. The first step of course is prevention. One important way to reduce your risk of developing diabetes is to keep your weight under control. At least 80 percent of those with type 2 diabetes are obese. Obesity is believed to lead to insulin resistance which increases the chance of developing pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes.
2. Once you have this disease, one very important step on how to reverse diabetes naturally is with your diet. Diet is at the heart of any diabetes treatment plan. The elements of the diet that directly impact your blood sugar levels are carbohydrates and sugar which are turned into glucose (simple sugars) by the body which is then released into the blood.
The hormone insulin is then produced by the beta cells in the pancreas and charged with removing this glucose from the blood and transferring it to the various cells of the body. Glucose is needed by the cells in the body because it provides the fuel or energy necessary for day to day activities. This is why many diabetics suffer from fatigue and weakness. Due to malfunctioning insulin resulting from insulin resistance or the body not producing enough or any insulin, glucose remains in the blood has the effect of starving the cells of the fuel they need.
Since carbohydrates and sugar affect blood sugar levels, you will need to make changes with these. Important changes you will need to make include eliminating refined carbohydrates. These include all the "white" foods made from refined grains such as white rice, white pasta, white bread, etc. These are devoid of nutrients including fiber and raise blood sugar levels the fastest as they travel through the digestive system very fast because they contain nothing for the body to grab hold on to in order to slow the digestion process which leads to blood sugar spikes.
Instead of refined carbs, switch to complex carbs which are digested slower by the body which can help to control blood sugar levels and prevent blood glucose spikes.
Sugar is another factor that you have to consider if you are considering steps on how to reverse diabetes naturally. Since sugar directly affects blood sugar levels you will have to consider reducing the amount of sugar you consume.
You may need to eliminate white sugar and foods that contain high amounts of processed sugar. Keep in mind that you may not need to eliminate sugar entirely but do be aware of how it can affect your blood sugar levels and make adjustments accordingly on how much to eat and when. Instead of eating sweet desserts every day, you may want to have a small piece of dessert once a week or once a month and so forth.
Fruits contain natural sugars (fructose) but since fruits contain many other beneficial vitamins and minerals, they should be okay to include on a diabetic diet which will tend to vary from one diabetic to another.
3. If your sugar levels are very high, one of the best ways to lower the levels very quickly is with exercise. Exercise is a crucial step as well as diet in order to reverse diabetes naturally. Exercise has many benefits for the general health and well being of the mind, body and spirit. For those with diabetes, exercise has the added benefit of being able to improve the sensitivity of the cells in the body to insulin which helps promote the movement of glucose from the blood to the cells where it is needed.
Before starting any exercise program, do check with your doctor because some exercises may not be suitable for a diabetic especially if you have developed certain diabetes related complications such as foot problems, vision problems, etc.
4. Fiber is an important aspect of how to reverse diabetes naturally as it helps to slow down the digestive process which helps to prevent blood sugar spikes. In addition to the fiber you get from complex carbohydrates discussed above, other excellent sources of fiber include fruits, vegetables, legumes, etc.
Soluble fiber which is abundant is foods like beans is especially important because it becomes gel like when combined with water which slows down digestion as it travels through the digestive tract while helps to control blood sugar levels.
Fiber is also important for any weight loss program because it will help you feel fuller sooner which will prevent overeating. Since many diabetics are overweight, incorporating more fiber in the diet can not only help control blood sugar levels but can also help with weight loss.
5. Significantly reduce or eliminate foods that contain saturated fats and trans fats. Trans fats (found in margarine for instance) should be eliminated entirely and this goes for everyone and not just diabetics. Saturated fats increase the risk of heart disease in the general population. For people with diabetes who are already at an increased risk of heart disease, saturated fats can make an already bad situation worse.
In addition to increasing the risk of heart disease, saturated fats can lead to insulin resistance which can lead to pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes. Saturated fats are commonly found in red meats, high fat dairy products, etc. Replace saturated fats with healthy fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids) commonly found in olives, olive oil, flaxseed oil, various nuts and seeds, cold water fish, etc. Making small changes gradually can have a huge impact in your fight against diabetes.
6. Consider adding cinnamon as certain compounds found in cinnamon have been shown to be capable of lowering blood sugar levels by helping the cells in the body absorb glucose like insulin and also help the body utilize blood sugar better.
7. Learn to effectively manage the stress in your life. Stress can raise blood sugar levels because it causes the release of stress hormones. Stress can also affect your blood sugar levels indirectly because it can cause overeating, not exercising, etc. A study showed that diabetics who were able to lower their stress levels were able to lower their blood sugar levels so stress management is very important for diabetics.
8. Another of the important tips on how to reverse diabetes naturally is to consider adding nutritional supplements containing vitamins C, D and E and minerals such as magnesium, zinc, and calcium. These vitamins and minerals can help reduce the risk of diabetes related complications such as heart disease, eye disease and nerve damage. They can also help cells be more sensitive to insulin and significantly lower blood sugar levels.
9. In order to prevent blood sugar level spikes, you may want to consider eating several small meals a day instead of two or three large meals which can lead to more glucose levels than insulin will be able to handle.
10. Change your mind and you will change your life. Take control of your health. While doctors and many other health practitioners will be a source of helpful tips and resources, you should always be in the driver's seat. You will have to be proactive to discover various alternative therapies and information that will help you overcome diabetes or manage diabetes better. A lot of it will require trial and error. You have to be confident in your ability to find the answers and solutions to help you manage this chronic disease.
Even if you learn how to manage your blood sugar levels, there may be instances when you may experience rapid swings in blood glucose levels due to stress, certain medications, certain foods you eat, etc. Anticipating and accepting these instances will help you move forward quicker by viewing these as a small bump in the road and not a major catastrophe that derails all your efforts to manage your blood sugar levels.
You are more than capable of conquering diabetes. You have to believe that in order to make the necessary changes you need to make and either reverse this condition or comfortably manage diabetes while keeping symptoms and complications to a minimum.

holzprojekt - Do, 2017-08-31 21:53

Holzwerkertreffen in Darmstadt

holzprojekt - Do, 2017-08-31 21:52

Festool Experience 2017

holzprojekt - Do, 2017-08-31 21:52
